Modern Day Observance of Yom Kippur

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Here is the full version of the video we showed on Sunday that documents a recent celebration of Yom Kippur by Samaritan worshippers. Just look at the joy in the faces of these worshippers, celebrating because they believe their sins are atoned for by the blood of these lambs they’re slaying. It is sad really. Let’s pray that they one day find true joy and atonement in the precious blood of the True Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world (John 1:29).

This message is just over an hour long but well worth a listen. I’ve heard many say this was one of the best messages they’ve heard from Piper. I’d agree!

All I Have is Christ

Friday, April 30th, 2010

I love the lyrics to this song. We’ve sung it at Dunbar a few times. I hope we do it more!

All I Have is Christ

I once was lost in darkest night
Yet thought I knew the way.
The sin that promised joy and life
Had led me to the grave.

I had no hope that You would own
A rebel to Your will.
And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still.

But as I ran my hell-bound race
Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state
And led me to the cross.

And I beheld God’s love displayed
You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me
Now all I know is grace.

Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life

Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone
And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands
Could never come from me.

Oh Father, use my ransomed life
In any way You choose.
And let my song forever be
My only boast is You.

Desiring God Regional Conference Messages

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Here are the messages from the recent Desiring God Vancouver Regional Conference held at Willingdon Church. Dr. John Piper preached two messages based on his book What Jesus Demands from the World.

If you missed the opportunity, I highly recommend watching or listening to each message and the great Q&A session. I’ve listened to a number of Piper’s sermons, and I must say these were two of the best I’ve heard from him in a while. I learned so much from him and about him — including his fondness of Red Robins.
